RESULTS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY 2013

In difficult times experienced by the peoples of southern Europe where a deep cultural and not only economic and monetary crisis leaves strong marks on local communities, met on 7 and 8 June 2013 in the Municipality of Pilea - Chortiati the GM of EGTC Amphiktiony.

RESULTS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY
 
In the difficult times in which the peoples of the European South are experiencing a deep cultural as well as financial and monetary crisis which severely impacts the local communities, the General Assembly of EGTC “AMPHICTYONY” was held at 7 & 8 of June 2013 at the Municipality of Pylea – Chortiatis (GR).
 
The member Municipalities believe that the EGTCs can and should play an important role, in the framework of the cross-border and transnational cooperation in support of social cohesion, and target the construction of a unified Europe who will consider and care for both numbers and citizen’ development. For this purpose, it believes that the European Citizen should have its own and decisive role in a Europe reflecting the constitutional visionary declaration, it will be constructed on the principles of peaceful coexistence, sustainable development, with respect to the natural, built and human environment, social cohesion, cultural diversity and language diversity.
 
            After listening to the suggestions of the management board and after the conclusion of the dialogue:   
 
1.       Approved the activity report of 2012 and the action plan of 2013.
 
2.       Considers the EGTC “AMPHICTYONY” as the appropriate tool by which the member Municipalities will progress in collaboration with the local communities in the new Programming Period 2014-2020.
 
3.       Considers its contribution important in the framework of the formation of the new Regulation for the "opening" of the EGTCs to third countries, regions and cities, giving it the opportunity to reconnect with member municipalities from the eastern Mediterranean and elsewhere.
 
4.       Urges the Board to seek partnerships with new Municipalities and Regions and other Mediterranean countries in order to strengthen EGTC “AMPHICTYONY”, both quantitatively and qualitatively.
 
5.       Asks the Board to proceed, by utilizing the cooperation agreement with EETAA, with the coordination of the member municipalities with the aim of drawing up an action plan that responds to the new programming period 2014-2020.
 
6.       Urges member municipalities to contribute to achieving the goal, both in the framework of their own five-year action plans and with the help of the appropriate human resources belonging to their service.
 
7.       Invites the member municipalities to utilize the website of EGTC “AMPHICTYONY” and especially the information platform on European programs, the hub of communication and information exchange amongst all, mayors and officials.
 
8.       Approves the financial report and balance for 2012.
 
9.       Recognises the challenging financial environment experienced by all Municipalities while it invites the member municipalities to respond early (by the end of the first quarter of each year) to their financial obligations towards the EGTC, in order to enable it to plan and execute all its member Municipalities expect.
 
10.   Adopts the resolution of its Cypriot member Municipalities on the continuous Turkish occupation.
